Aqualux II

Aqualux II “in the midst of a fire that burns not” presents the results from the artist in residence hosted by CSIRO, under the Australia Council New Media Arts Board Synapse Program, an initiative that fosters creative partnerships between artists and scientists.A video installation by artist Peter E. Charuk inspired by the seabed mapping research of CSIRO scientists Alan Williams, Bruce Barker and colleagues.

Gestation is an interactive responsive environment. It contains two integrated spaces. One gallery contains a surround sound field, generated in real time using video sensing equipment (visible to visitors only as a small security video camera in the middle of the roof) that maps the behaviour and movement patterns of the visitors on to real-time audio algorithms providing a tight gestural relationship with their movement and behaviour patterns.
